HOW YOU (!) CAN GET INVOLVED!

You can help your community, yourself, and the future of us all by jumping in to these activities:

  • Attend Progressive Action gatherings and connect with progressive friends! Check the Calendar page on this website for details.
  • Sign up for the Progressive Action email discussion group, [prog-action].
  • Join other online groups—such as TruthOut and Common Dreams—to receive in-depth news the media often isn’t providing.
  • Volunteer in the campaigns of the progressive candidates listed here on our website. Roger Reinert, Greg Gilbert, Laura Condon, Mary Cameron, and Nancy Nilsen could use your help with delivering campaign literature, stuffing envelopes, donating money, making phone calls, delivering yard signs and more. Please contact them today!
  • Do phone bank for At-Large City Council candidate Roger Reinert, please call Ron at 341-0257. Phone banking is perhaps the most effective way to bring the message of a candidate to the voters!
  • Listen to the progressive voices of Duke Skorich and Patty McNulty on the Duke Skorich Show, KUWS radio, 91.3 FM. M, T, W at 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • Listen to Air America radio, 1490 AM (Duluth). www.airamericaradio.com
  • Attend your political caucuses Spring 2006. (Watch for more detail on date and locations.)
  • Write a letter to the editor to your local newspapers, including the alternatives.
  • Write a full editorial for your local newspaper—these are longer than letters and allow the writer to delve deeper into the issue. Check with your local paper regarding length limitations.
  • Email your views and event announcements to the widely-distributed Howie Hanson blog, at duluth@aol.com
  • Register to vote!
  • Pick up voter registration forms at your City Clerk’s office, and register everyone you can—including friends, church members, neighbors, relatives, and club members.
  • Attend (or watch on TV or listen on the radio) your city’s City Council meetings. At those meetings, stand up and speak about issues that matter to you!
  • Attend the party meetings for your chosen political party.
  • Begin planning your own run for local office!
